Our clients, a young couple from London, bought this lovely townhouse and wanted to turn it into a spacious, cool and quirky home. Building Workshop’s design involved removing all of the internal walls on the first floor and putting in steel supports to open up the entire floor. This allowed the whole floor to become one large room with windows looking onto the street as well as into the garden.
This was one of Building Workshop’s first projects and we did the full works – first the design and we then completed the building works and decoration with our own team of tradesmen.
The new space has an oak floor with long wide boards, the kitchen is custom built with a bespoke stainless steel worktop with an integrated sink. The interior design includes a combination of period features such as the cornicing and skirting details which contrast with the more modern furnishings.
This project was completed in Autumn 2009.
